Dear Mineko, Yuikazu-san and Yuki-san,
Just a quick note to say that I am back in the USA and all is well!!
I have been back in the states for a little over a week. I am over jet lag and we are getting back into "the swing of things". I arrived home on Aug 7th in the afternoon. On Aug 8 and 9th, Tori, Nick and Matt had a play (geki) performance they were involved in. They had 3 performances in 2 days. They did a GREAT job and were very fun to watch. Matt (age 7) was one of the main characters so that was very fun to watch and very exciting that he made no mistakes!! This was a play with children and adults in it. It was nice to see them all interact together.
How are you? Have you started back with LABO? What are your plans for the Fall? Please tell all of the LABO groups that I said, "Hello!! And I miss seeing their smiling faces!!"
My homestay with LEX was very interesting but not as nice as my stay with you and your family. Thank you very much for being such fine hosts!!! When I was in Miki City I felt like I had a well rounded experience with meeting a variety of people, some sight seeing, a bit of Japanese culture and I made some great friends. Your hospitality was greatly appreciated.
Well, I hope this email finds you all well and hopefully things in Japan are cooling off a bit. We have had rain and it has been a bit cooler.these past 2 days.
We had family night a few days ago where Jenny and I showed our pictures and for snack we ate the special treats Mineko bought for us from the area where we went to the On-sen. They were delicious!! Thank you again!!
Yuki-san, everyone enjoyed the "7-people charms" that you bought for them. Thank you!!
Well, I must go. I just wanted to say "Thank you" again for ALL of your wonderful hospitality and friendship!!

PS: The situation with Cyd did not ever improve much. She finally did stop using the computer but she never was able to repair the breakdown she and the family had. There were MANY mistakes made along the way; on both sides, however, I think Cyd has really grown from this situation and hopes to return to Japan someday. Thanks for all of your help with that situation!

1 ts. Salt(opt)
チョコチップスはピーナツバター味のマーブルチョコでした。とてもアメリカの香がしておいしかったです。 おみやげのメジャー･スプーンで一緒に作りました。
チョコチップスの袋には"Reese's Pieces Peanut Butter-Candy in a Crunchy Shell"とパッケージに書いてありましたよ。 あの味と同じものは難しいかもしれませんが、また、違うものをいれてトライしてみましょ！

Hello, My name is Judy Carew. I am a Labo chaperone from the State of Texas. This is my fourth trip to Japan. The 1st time I came to Japan, I was a High School Exchange student. I lived with a Japanese family for 1 year.
Later I was with the JET Program and taught English in a small town in Hiroshima-ken.
I am very happy to be here in Japan with Labo & the Texas Global Education group.
I have 5 children, 3 girls & 2 boys. My oldest is 19years old and my youngest is 7 years old. I home school them which means I teach them at home. My oldest graduated last year and attends college nearby.
I am a strong Christian and I enjoy going on mission trip with my church, meeting new people, learning about different cultures and spending time with family & friends.

ラボパティへの参加はもちろん、地域活動への訪問、ご招待も受けて充実したものです。 Judｙさん自身とても積極的に交わろうとされているので、ホスト役の私も負けてはいられません。 いろいろセッティングして多くの方々に出会えるよう頑張っています。 当然協力して下さる方がいてくださるので感謝、感謝ということです。
ラボパーティの中でも、家族紹介のアルバムを見せていただいたり、ラボっ子達とソングを楽しんだり、テーマ活動も見ていただきアドバイスももらいました。 ２０周年を前によい緊張感で臨めます。
Judyさんはご自分のダイアリーを持ち歩いて行く先々で記念スタンプを押します。 しっかり記録を残しておく方法としてとてもいいやり方ですね。
日本には結構いたるところにスタンプがあることに私も気づきました。 もう幾つぐらいのスタンプをゲットされたかしら？と思うほどです。 三木だけでも１５ぐらいはあるとおもいますよ。
ステイも半ば元気に過ごされているので、ホスト役としても楽しい時間が持てています。 ２０周年の行事もHelpしてくださるので頼もしいかぎりです。
       
20周年記念発表会でも“Let's Play in English!”の時に“CORNERS”というゲームを紹介してもらって盛り上げていただきました。
日常の生活はいろいろ質問ぜめかと思うほど、たくさんお話できました。 教育の話が多かったように思います。 ちょっとした発見が面白くがってカメラにおさめておられました。
例えば…
①サギの群れている川辺 ②お地蔵様 ③ETCカードシステム ④ルリアゲハ蝶 ⑤だんじり 数えあげると切りなく、行く先々で記念スタンプをダイアリーに押しておられました。
ご案内して所は…
①三木市関係―三木市長表敬訪問、三木市国際交流協会姉妹都市サイゼリア市歓迎会、三木ホースランド、三木森林公園、グリーンピア三木花火大会、掘光美術館、玉置家、金物資料館、三木道の駅、本要寺義民祭、ライオンズ例会、ホザナ園の夕涼み会、関西国際大学、三木防災公園、知人の果樹園
②京都祇園祭の山鉾、平安神宮 ③丹波笹山 ④大阪城 ⑤ラボセンターにてユースギャザリングとテューターとのミーティング
等など毎日忙しく出かけました。
2週間の間に20周年記念発表会がありましたので、今までの受け入れで最も充実した毎日でした。
一週間目は各ｸﾞﾙｰﾌﾟに参加してくださり、ファミリー紹介アルバムを見せていただきながらラボっ子たちと仲良く過ごし、テーマ活動も見て頂きました。
「大きく息を吸って声を出すといいですよ。」とアドバイスもして下さいました。 まるで英語の先生のようでしたね。
その中でも、引率されてきたユースに電話で様子を聴かれたり、なかなかうまく交流が出来ていないケースにも丁寧に責任を果たそうとされていました。 一緒に案じながらラボ国際交流のあり方など話は尽きず、後２日はほしい感がありました。 ７月１３日～２７日までの滞在でしたが私自身も今までにない経験と勉強が出来たことに感謝します。 昨日次のステイ先に移動されましたので、無事ホスト役が勤められたと今はほっとしているところですが、Judyさんとはまた、お会いしたい気持ちでいっぱいです。 |
